Become a volunteer moderator
As a volunteer, you can work flexible hours and will be fully supported by the wider team. You will receive an induction, moderation training, and ongoing supervision as part of your volunteer contract.
The personal characteristics we look for in our volunteers are:
- Friendly and empathetic
- Clear understanding of confidentiality
- Good interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic, reliable, and punctual
- Able to work as part of a team
- Over 18 years of age
- Ability to use digital media (training is provided)
If you feel you have these characteristics and would like to volunteer with us to support members of SHaRON, you can find more information on volunteering on the Berkshire Healthcare website via the link below. Alternatively, to discuss volunteering with us in more detail, please contact the SHaRON team.
Moderators e-learning
We (a group of researchers, users and moderators of online forums as well as public advisors) have co-designed e-learning for moderators of online forums. If you want to see it, please complete this online form.
After completion, you will be emailed a link to the e-learning package. This is so we can understand more about who accesses our training, as well as request feedback.
We also have an academic paper about the co-design process if you wish to find out more more.
