SHaRON Supportive Steps Established In: 2024
Supportive Steps is here to support parents and carers. Supporting a young person with mental health challenges can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone as parents and carers. We are using SHaRON as a safe, anonymous space for parents and carers to connect, share experiences, and offer or receive peer advice. It helps families support each other in navigating their children's emotional wellbeing while they are waiting for assessment or treatment within the getting help or getting more help and ANDY clinic service. It takes a village to raise a child and SHaRON has become a virtual village for our parents and carers.
“SHaRON is an online platform designed especially for parents and carers whose children have an open referral to our mental health services (GH, GMH, ANDY). It’s your go-to place for connection, support, and guidance from the moment your CAMHS journey begins.
As soon as your referral is accepted, you’ll be invited to join one of our welcoming workshops. From there, you’ll gain access to SHaRON – a space that stays with you throughout your time with the mental health team, from waiting for assessment, through treatment, and all the way to discharge.
But SHaRON is more than just a platform – it’s a community. It’s here to help you feel less alone, to activate your waiting time with helpful resources, and to connect you with others who truly understand. Think of it as building your village of support.
You’ll also get early access to peer-to-peer events like wellbeing walks and coffee mornings – perfect opportunities to meet other parents, share experiences, and take a breather.
Let’s make sure no one feels alone on this journey. SHaRON is here for you, every step of the way.”
